Genetic Genealogy and The Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS):
Using DNA Evidence to Confirm Research and Explore New Possibilities

The Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) is one of the most valuable tools we can apply as we use DNA evidence in our genealogy research.

We will consider how the GPS can be applied when we use DNA evidence to confirm findings in our research and can be applied to remain objective when DNA evidence leads us to explore new possibilities and findings.

Participants should bring research questions of both types (using DNA evidence to confirm findings + DNA evidence that reveals something new/interesting) and be prepared to discuss how these questions can be addressed using the GPS.
